Edward Irving Koch (1924–2013) was NYC's 105th Mayor across 3 terms 1978-1989. Famous "How'm I doin'?" rhetorical greeting. Switched from liberal Greenwich Village U.S. Rep (1969-77) to fiscal-conservative Mayor confronting NYC's post-1975 fiscal-crisis recovery. Lost 1989 Dem primary to David Dinkins. Subject of Saturday Night Live impressions throughout his tenure. Authored 2 best-selling memoirs; later TV "Judge Koch" judge 1997-1999. Died Feb 1 2013.
