Background
William Jefferson Clinton (b. 1946) was Arkansas Attorney General 1977-79 and Governor 1979-81 + 1983-92, before becoming the 42nd President of the United States 1993-2001. Lost his first Gov reelection 1980 to Frank D. White; reclaimed the office 1982 with a public mea culpa. Resigned the AR Gov seat December 12, 1992 to take office January 20, 1993. His Whitewater real-estate dealings (with Jim Guy Tucker, his successor) sparked the Whitewater investigation that ultimately led to impeachment over the Lewinsky matter. Married Hillary Rodham 1975; she co-led AR child welfare + education reforms.
