Thomas Lawson McCall (1913–1983) was Oregon Governor 1967-1975. Environmental icon: signed the Bottle Bill (1971, first state container-deposit law in U.S.); the Beach Bill (1967, public access to OR coast); + the 1973 land-use planning act creating LCDC. Famous "Visit, but for heaven's sake, don't move here" remark to discourage Californians from relocating. R who battled Reagan-style fiscal conservatives in his own party.
