Mike Castle
Lt Governor · Republican · Delaware
NOTABLE
On the record
Later DE Gov, 9-term U.S. Rep
Background
Michael Newbold Castle (b. 1939) is the only Delawarean in modern history to serve as Lt Gov, Governor, AND U.S. Representative consecutively: DE Lt Gov 1981-85 → DE Gov 1985-92 → DE U.S. Rep AL 1993-2011. Lost the 2010 Republican U.S. Senate primary to insurgent Christine O'Donnell — one of the most consequential Tea Party upsets, since the Dem (Chris Coons) then won the seat O'Donnell could not. Moderate Republican; chaired House Education panel.
