Richard Blumenthal (b. 1946) was Connecticut U.S. Attorney 1977-81 + AG 1991-2011 (20-yr tenure) + U.S. Senator 2011-. Famous Vietnam-misstatement controversy May 2010 — described his Marine Reserve service in ways that implied combat in Vietnam (he had not served in Vietnam). Won the Senate seat anyway over Linda McMahon. Married Cynthia Allen, daughter of Empire State Building owner Peter Malkin.
